South West Tourism Awards – 2014: The prestigious South West Tourism Awards ceremony was held at the Holiday Inn Hotel on Plymouth Hoe on 30th January 2014. We joined tourism businesses from all over the region to find out the results of this year’s awards, and won the Bronze Award for Holiday Park of the Year. Thanks again to all of you for your support and congratulations to all the other winners!

David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award – 2014: We’ve been awarded Gold in the prestigious David Bellamy Conservation Awards for the sixth year running. Gwel an Mor has achieved this accolade for their conservation work every year since 2009, described by Professor Bellamy as the ‘Green Olympics’ for holiday parks. The conservation audit of parks covers many environmental issues, ranging from aspects such as the care of hedgerows and wild flowers, to the siting of bird-boxes and the development and protection of reed beds and wildlife ponds. Professor Bellamy has also looked at aspects of park management which do not directly affect the immediate environment, but which are important in overall conservation terms, such as the use of unbleached paper for holiday brochures, installing long-life light bulbs and recycling waste.

Hoseasons Awards – 2013: The 2013 Hoseasons awards took place in Southport in November, recognising achievements among the 560 parks Hoseasons represents. Not only did we win the Best Lodge Escape in Cornwall, we were also named the Best Park in Britain out of all 560, and the first one ever to win this prestigious award twice! We won this award first time around in 2010, which means so much because it’s voted for by Hoseasons customers. Thank you to everyone who supported us.

Cornwall Tourism Awards – 2013: The 2013 Cornwall Tourism Awards were held at the Headland Hotel in Newquay in November. We were delighted to win the Gold award for Holiday Village & Resort of the Year and Silver in the Wildlife Friendly Business award. Now in their 12th year, the prestigious Awards hosted by Visit Cornwall, the Cornwall Development Company tourism service, and sponsored by St Austell Brewery, cover over 19 categories and shine the spotlight on leading tourism businesses who represent the very best the county has to offer visitors.

Gwel an Mor walked away with gold in the Outstanding Customer Service Award and Bronze in the Holiday Park and Village of the year. Winning Gold means Gwel an Mor will yet again go on to represent our region at the Enjoy England Awards in May this year.

Visit England Awards – 2013: These prestigious awards, currently in their 23rd year, promote excellence on England’s tourism industry and celebrate the very best the country has to offer. We won gold and have been officially named as the ‘Best Holiday Village in England’. South West Tourism Awards – 2012: After winning at the Cornwall Tourism Awards in 2011, we were entered into the South West Tourism Awards in 2012 which celebrate the most outstanding tourism businesses in the South West, recognising those businesses which excel in the regions top industry. Cornwall Tourism Awards – 2011: The highly desired Cornwall Tourism Awards in 2011 were a huge success for us. We took home the gold for ‘Holiday Park & Village of the Year’ and the gold for ‘Outstanding Customer Service Award’ was awarded to us by Hoseasons.

The Real Critics Guide Award: The Real Awards were created with the aim of finding the height of luxury amongst accommodation and restaurants worldwide. Those presented with the award can boast this high achievement as a mark of their exceptional services to the hospitality industry. This exceptional accolade is not open to public voting and instead the nominees are vigorously put through their paces by our team of senior critics.

‘Best of Britain’ Award – 2010: A great achievement, judged by Hoseasons guests this award depicts Gwel an Mor as the best holiday park in Britain. “Gwel an Mor is part of our ‘Ultimate Collection’, offering the very highest level of self-catering accommodation the UK has on offer, but this award isn’t simply about luxury, it also recognises the quality of service and customer experience. The fact that they won this award, against some very stiff competition, demonstrates that consumers are searching for, and finding, top quality accommodation in the UK and being delighted with their experiences” (Geoff Cowley, managing director of Hoseasons group).

We also took home the silver for the ‘Large Self Catering Establishment of the Year’ category and the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, after 2009 saw us enjoy gold in the ‘Large Self Catering Establishment of the Year’ class.

TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence – 2010-2019: Once again, Gwel an Mor has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor, but for the first time our Terrace Restaurant has been awarded one too! The accolade, which honours hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide. Establishments awarded the Certificate of Excellence are located all over the world and represent the upper echelon of businesses listed on the website. When selecting Certificate of Excellence winners, TripAdvisor uses a proprietary algorithm to determine the honourees that takes into account reviews ratings. Businesses must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, volume and recency of reviews.
