Gwel an Mor Environmental Policy

At Gwel an Mor, we are committed to protecting the environment through responsible and sustainable management. Our approach focuses on reducing waste, conserving energy and water, supporting biodiversity, and sourcing locally wherever possible.

Recycling facilities for glass, cans, plastic and paper are available throughout the resort, and we aim to recycle 90% of our waste while sending only 10% to landfill. Energy efficiency is built into everything we do, with LED lighting, motion sensors, and well-insulated lodges that make use of natural light to reduce energy use. Water-saving devices are fitted in our Luxury Eco Lodges to help limit consumption, and all lodges are constructed from eco-friendly materials surrounded by native plants that attract bees and butterflies.

Our electric fleet of 30 vans and buggies helps cut noise and emissions, while guest charging points encourage the use of electric vehicles. Across the resort, dedicated wildflower areas, tree planting projects, and four-metre wildlife corridors help protect local habitats and promote biodiversity.

The Terrace Restaurant supports local suppliers such as Matthew Stevens Fish and follows the Cornwall Good Seafood Guide to promote sustainable sourcing. We encourage guests to enjoy car-free days, explore local walking and cycling routes, and support nearby businesses to reduce travel impact and strengthen the community.

We employ locally to reduce commuting emissions, and all staff are trained in sustainable practices and environmental awareness. This policy is reviewed quarterly by management and staff at Gwel an Mor to ensure we continue improving our environmental performance.
