Our coastal holiday park is the perfect base to explore these great counties. Located on the western edge of West Sussex, from Medmerry you can easily see all the sights and sounds that West Sussex and Hampshire have to offer.

As well as the beaches and attractions, no visit to West Sussex or Hampshire would be complete without visiting at least some of their picturesque towns and cities, all filled to the brim with heritage and culture. Here we’ve picked out just a few of our favourites, where you can spend some time seeing the sights, as well as some of their top nature destinations.

The Witterings

5 miles from Medmerry Park

It’s easy to see why the twin villages of East and West Witterings are so famous. Home to the spectacular unspoiled coastline, golden sands, independent cafés, thriving communities and water sports galore, this vibrant area of the West Sussex coastline is a mecca for casual sea dippers and thrill seekers alike, attracting visitors from across the UK and beyond.

West Wittering – Cast your gaze across the expanse that is West Witterings beach ‒ a sprawling stretch of white sand bordered by the South Downs. Home to clean shores, crystal waters and views of Chichester Harbour, thrill seekers can kitesurf while little ones play in the shallow lagoons and sandy flats.

East Wittering – Soak up the surfy culture at East Witterings, a thriving seaside community overflowing with character and charm. Stroll through the village and enjoy its independent shops and coffee houses, or claim your spot on the pebbled beach and wait for low tide to reveal huge sand flats that are perfect for hunting seabed treasures.

Chichester

No trip to West Sussex is complete without a visit to its cathedral city, Chichester. Awash with grade II listed buildings and evidence of Roman settlement, including baths, a city wall and an amphitheatre, this charming city brings England’s rich history into the present, attracting visitors from all over the world.

Chichester Cathedral – With its impressive spire, it cuts a dramatic figure in the city’s landscape. It’s been the centre of Chichester’s thriving community for over 900 years and boasts fascinating treasures from medieval stone carvings to world-famous contemporary works of art. Take time to admire the magnificent stained glass windows as well as the organ, which contains some of the oldest pipework in England.

West Dean Gardens – One of England’s greatest restored gardens open to the public, West Dean Gardens is a haven for horticultural lovers. Stroll through the 300-foot-long Edwardian pergola, visit the restored Victorian glasshouses, soak up the scents in the walled kitchen garden and explore the sunken garden and orchards. Finish with a walk through the arboretum before indulging in afternoon tea in the restaurant.

The South Downs

The UK is home to many diverse landscapes and The South Downs certainly falls into that category. Home to green rolling pastures, wide open spaces, ancient woodlands, river valleys and dramatic coastlines, this truly is a place that appeals to everyone! The good news is that our Holiday Park near Chichester is just a short drive from this region of outstanding natural beauty.

Lace-up those walking boots! – This region is made for walkers! There is over 3,000km of footpaths and bridleways to explore. In fact, there are more routes in the South Downs than in any other National Park in the UK.

Explore on 2 wheels – Whether it’s on your bike or with a four-legged companion, the South Downs has something for every kind of cyclist and rider to enjoy.

Or 4 legs! – For horse riders, there are 1200km of bridleways spreading through the National Park for riders to enjoy – everything from a gentle trot along a country track to a hack up to the top of the Downs.
