Bracklesham Bay

This is a mostly shingle beach, which becomes sandier towards the water’s edge. When the tide is out, a large, area of wet sand is exposed. Dogs are not allowed on a section of beach in front of the car park between May and September.

This delightful sand dune split on the eastern side of the entrance to Chichester Harbour is considered by many to be one of the best beaches in West Sussex. Here visitors will find a sandy beach, backed by dunes and salt marshes which provide a habitat for many rare species of plant and animal life. Dog restrictions are in place – please see local signage.

East Wittering beach is typical of many beaches along England’s south coast with its shelving shingle and wooden groynes. As the tide goes out expansive sand flats are revealed – perfect for building sand castles and ball games! Dogs are restricted from certain areas of the beach from the end of May until September.

Located at the mouth of Chichester Harbour, West Wittering has an attractive sandy beach within a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It’s an ideal beach for sunbathing, paddling and water sports such as surfing, windsurfing and kite-surfing when conditions are right. Dogs are restricted from certain areas of the beach from the end of May until September.

The South Downs

The South Downs is hugely popular and is chosen by many as it’s a great place to exercise your dog, with miles of rolling hills and countryside that’s sure to set happy tails wagging!

There’s plenty to explore including heathlands, forests, farmland and historical sites, as well as several dog-friendly pubs.
