Please call the pharmacy first to explain your situation, get the fax number and then arrange for your home GP to fax the prescription to the required pharmacy.

A&E is for serious, life-threatening injuries and illnesses that need urgent medical attention. These include, but are not limited to, stroke, severe chest pain and breathing difficulties, heavy bleeding, loss of consciousness, and serious burns. People with this type of life-threatening condition will be treated before those with minor injuries and illnesses. In Coastal West Sussex there are A&E departments at St. Richards Hospital in Chichester and Worthing Hospital. Only use them in life-threatening situations.
There are two minor injury services in Coastal West Sussex if you have an injury or illness and you need urgent medical attention but it is not a life-threatening emergency. You can just turn up at these services and don’t need to book an appointment like a GP practice. Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital Minor Injuries Unit and the Park Surgery in Littlehampton provide a walk-in service if you need help for conditions including sprains, minor burns, cuts and grazes, and minor skin irritations. They are both open Mon to Fri – Bognor Regis MIU is open 9am to 5pm and Park Surgery is open from 8am to 6.30pm.
If you need emergency dental help while away from home, there are emergency clinics available in West Sussex, which can offer appointments to people with a dental emergency. Call 111 to find out where you can get help and to book an appointment.
If you need sexual health advice or treatment the local pharmacy is the best place to start. They can support you with advice and information and provide over-the-counter medication for various conditions. Pharmacists can also offer emergency contraception. People aged 13 to 21 years old can receive emergency contraception for free as part of a local scheme. If you are older than 21 emergency contraception will be made available but there will be a cost.
If you or a loved one feel you need help with your mental health while you are away from home, local services are available. For help and advice call Sussex Mental Healthline on 0300 5000 101. It’s available Mon to Fri 5pm to 9am and 24hrs at the weekends. The Samaritans are also available on 08457 909090.
